ARTHUR CZAJKOWSKI

Arthur Czajkowski, age 87, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel in Thorp. Inurnment will follow in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery, also in Thorp.

Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arthur Czajkowski, age 87, of Thorp, WI, formerly of Pontiac and Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp following a short illness.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Inurnment followed at Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery, also in Thorp.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the Thorp Funeral Home.

Arthur Czajkowski was born on May 10, 1921 in Chicago, IL, the son of Walter and Caroline (Zuber) Czajkowski. Art served his country in the United States Army from 1942-1945 and was honorably discharged. He married Marcella Dobrzynski on February 2, 1947 in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on August 24, 1989.

Art was a longtime employee of the Motorola Corporation in Chicago, Franklin Park, and Pontiac, IL. He loved to create and build and was especially proud of his work on his home in Thorp. He built and flew radio-controlled airplanes, enjoyed dancing, fishing, going to the casino, water skiing with his brother-in-law, Wayne Slahor, and golfing in his later years.

Art is survived by his son, Bruce Czajkowski, of Moclips, WA, and his daughter, Pamela Oles, of Bloomington, IL; one brother, Terry Czajkowski of Champaign, IL; one sister, Florence Nagler, of Phoenix, AZ, and significant other, Frances Gosse, of Thorp, WI.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Eloise Shields, Denver, CO, Alyssa Czajkowski, Hoquiam, WA, Toby Dunn, Moclips, WA, Sofia Czajkowski, Copalis Crossing, WA, Hailey Czajkowski, Portland, OR, Caroline Oles, Chicago, IL, Walter Joseph Oles, Tampa, FL, and Christine Oles, Tampa, FL; and one great-grandchild, Addison Czajkowski, Hoquiam, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marcella; two sisters: Genevieve Scholle and Eleanor Schuster; and three brothers: Walter, Mike, and Jake Czajkowski.

Art was an honorable man and his son’s "first hero."

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
