Kapellan, Peter (1859? - 21 MAY 1901)

A very sad piece of news is contained in the following dispatch from Plymouth, dated May 21st, 1901:

"Peter Kapellan, a well-to-do farmer of the town of Rhine, committed suicide this morning by taking carbolic acid. About 7 o’clock her walked out on his farm, taking a bottle of the acid with him. After drinking the contents he returned to the house and his death occurred about three hours later. He was 41 years old and leaves a wife and two children."

Peter Kapellan was brother of our esteemed citizen, Matt Kapellan, who went to Plymouth at once upon receiving a dispatch telling him to come.
