Mrs. Mary Ruege, aged 89, died at 10:30 p.m., on December 10, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Braatz, in the town of Grant, after a few days illness. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, December 13, at the Pleasant Ridge Methodist church, preceded by brief services at the Jaster Funeral Home. The Rev. Floyd A. Mrs. Ruege, whose maiden name was Mary Lange, was born in Norway on September 5, 1855, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Lange. In 1872, when she was 16 years of age, she came with her parents to America, and they settled in Dane County, where she resided about eight years.

On December 24, 1879, she was united in marriage to William Ruege, and they came to Clark County the next year. They settled on a farm in the town of Grant where they lived for 28 years. In 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Ruege moved to Neillsville. Since the death of her husband in 1914, she had made her home with her three daughters, Emma, Mrs. C. C. Hubbard, Oshkosh, Wis.; Rose, Mrs. Alvin Eisentraut, and Nellie, Mrs. Herman Braatz, town of Grant. Mrs. Ruege is survived also by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Six of her grandchildren were pallbearers.

Mrs. Ruege was a woman of pleasant disposition, and had a wide circle of friends. She led an active life, and retained her keen interest in life until the time of her last illness. She had been for many years a member of the Presbyterian Church.
