Pierce, Anna Marilla (15 May 1868 - 13 July 1945)

Mrs. Anna Pierce, 77, passed away at the Neillsville hospital July 13.

Anna Marilla Gleason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Gleason, was born at Wautoma and at the age of two years moved with her parents to Humbird. On December 23, 1888, she was united in marriage to Daniel Pierce and to this union was born nine children, four of whom have preceded her in death. Her husband passed away in 1927.

Surviving are a son, Earl of Neillsville, and four daughters, Mrs. James Hardwick, Humbird; Mrs. Alfred Frank, Merrillan; Mrs. Art Meinholdt, Neillsville; Mrs. Tom Finch, Tomah. Two brothers, George Gleason of Waubay, S.D., and Henry Gleason of Humbird, also survive. She leaves 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Many friends and relatives assembled at the town hall Tuesday afternoon, July 17, where funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Robert Sachtjen of Merrillan.

Burial was in Mentor cemetery.
