Montgomery, Bernetta (26 JUN 1908 - 14 MAR 1942)

Mrs. A. L. Montgomery, 33, died Saturday afternoon, March 14, at 4:10 o’clock in St. Joseph’s hospital at Marshfield. She had been a patient there since Feb. 3.

Mrs. Montgomery, nee Bernetta Schuld, was born in Loyal on June 26, 1908, and received her education in the Catholic parochial school here. She was married to A. L. Montgomery at Winona, Minn., on August 25, 1928. After their marriage, they lived in Milwaukee and at Lake Tomahawk and then went to Caledonia, Minn. Later they moved to Neillsville and then returned to Loyal, where they lived the past two years.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Elaine and Jean; an infant son, John; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schuld, all of Loyal; two sisters, Mrs. Leslie (Grace) James of Mauston and Mrs. Cullen (Rachael) Ayres of Loyal, and two brothers, Oscar of Menominee Falls and Henry of Loyal. Two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock in St. Anthony’s Catholic church, with the Rev. Zinthefer, local pastor, officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Raphael Haas, Roman Braun, Max Langfeldt, John Castner, Frank Degenhardt and Herbert Polzin.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie James, Mauston; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schuld and daughter Menominee Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Percy Montgomery and daughter, Lake Tomahawk; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Montgomery, Neillsville, and Mrs. H. Greesbach, Watertown.
