Anthony, Alice Eliza (3 AUG 1866 - 23 MAR 1942)

Mrs. William Anthony, 75, passed away on Monday. Mrs. Anthony, nee Alice Eliza Sweet, was born in Herrick township, Pa., on Aug. 3, 1866, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sweet. She came to Wisconsin with her parents when she was 15 years old. They purchased a farm at Romadka in Clark county, where she lived until the death of her parents. Then she went to live with her sister, Mrs. John Breese, who lived in the same neighborhood. There she made her home until her marriage to William Anthony on Dec. 5, 1894, and has since lived in the town of York.

Her husband and two children survive, the two children, Claude and Ruby, living at home. Her sister, Mrs. Angie Breese, town of York, also survives. One son, Rella, died at Algiers, France, shortly after the first World war on Dec. 17, 1918.

Services were held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The Rev. G. W. Longenecker of Neillsville conducted the services, and Mrs. William Schmidtke and Miss Gertrude Holmes sang during the service.

Pallbearers were John Davis, Abie Turner, Ray Mortimer, Herman Schlinsog, Wheeler Forman and Walter Rowe. Interment was in the Windfall cemetery.
