DARLENE M. HOLMAN

Darlene M. Holman, 80, Humbird, died Monday, may 26, 2008, at her home.

Darlene was born February 4, 1928, in Augusta to parents John and Charlotte (DeLong) Hughes. She married Lester Holman November 15, 1947, on the Holman farm in Price. They lived in Rockford, IL, for 30 years, moving to the Humbird area in 1986. Lester preceded Darlene in death October 20, 1987.

While living in Rockford, Darlene worked in a ceramic shop for several years. Her favorite activities included family get-togethers and playing cards. She also enjoyed being outdoors doing yard work and fishing. She had a talent of various forms of needlework such as crocheting and sewing clothes for herself and her family. Gardening, canning and cooking for family and friends were other activities she will be remembered for.

Darlene is survived by two sons, Gary (Wendy) Holman of Roscoe, IL, and David Holman of Humbird; five daughters, Sharon (Leon) Adam of Humbird, Sandra Hinkle of Humbird, Charlotte Holman of Alma Center, Deborah (Dean) Tande of Alma Center and Sarah Holman of Alma Center; one brother, David Hughes of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Betty Eisberner of Eau Claire and Peggy Wood of Milwaukee; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; besides many other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, Lester, she was preceded in death by brothers Jim, Jack, Leonard, infant brother Bobby and by her granddaughter, Serena.

Funeral Services for Darlene M. Holman were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Assembly of God Church, Alma Center, with Reverend Greg Mandigo officiating. Burial took place in East Lawn Cemetery, Alma Center. Friends called Friday at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Casket bearers were Ronnie Hinkle Jr., Dustin Holman, Gary Holman Jr., Jonathan Holman, Wade June and Lucas Mathews. Honorary bearers were Shawn Anderson, D. J. Holman, Josh Holman, Tom Jones, Paul McNally and Mario Spurling.
