THORP -- Chester "Chet" Bruno Sniegowski, 89, of Thorp, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp with burial in Old St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service today at the Thorp Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Chet was born July 9, 1918, in the town of Reseburg to Jacob and Joanna (Borchardt) Sniegowski. He entered the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. After his discharge he returned to Thorp and with his brothers built and operated "S-B Repair" in the town of Reseburg. He later owned and operated "Club 73" and then ran a stump removal service.

He is survived by his brother, Florian (Caroline) Sniegowski, Withee; nieces and nephews.
