Davel, Richard L. (29 JUN 1940 - 12 APR 1942)

Richard Lee Davel, 21 months old, died Sunday morning, April 12, at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, death being caused by meningitis, which followed a head injury. He had been a hospital patient for seven weeks.

Richard Davel was born in Loyal on June 29, 1940.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Davel; two brothers, Jerome and Kenneth; two sisters, Mary Ann and Marcella.\; hid grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davel, Loyal, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry DeYoung, New London, and a great-grandfather, Ralph Clemetson (84) Loyal.

Funeral services were held in St. Anthony’s Catholic church, and burial was in the Catholic cemetery. The Rev. Aloys Zinthefer officiated.

The flower girls were Shirley Brill, Doris Hills. Elizabeth Fiegel, Marcy Beaver, Jane Searvogel and Helen Castner. The pallbearers were Ronald Davel, Anthony Brill, Matthew Brill and Gerald Beaver.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Henry DeYoung, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Paulson and Mrs. August Beckert, New London, Mrs. Otto Fiegel, Omro; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Davel and son and Mrs. Cora Dietsche, Riplinger; Mrs. Mary Brill and family and Mrs. Angus Lamont, Colby; and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dietsche and family, Spencer.

There’s a home for little children,

Above the bright blue sky.

Where Jesus reigns in glory.

A home of peace and joy:

No home on earth is like it.

Nor can with it compare:

For everyone is happy.

Nor could be happier there.
