Apfelbeck, Agnes M. (7 Jan. 1956)

Miss Agnes M. Apfelbeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Apfelbeck of Colby, and Dennis G. Weber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Weber of Athens, were united in marriage before the 9:00 o’clock ceremony Saturday in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. Vincent Schwartz performing the marriage. Vocal music for the wedding was provided by Mrs. Bernadette Gabriel and the sisters of St. Mary’s parish.

Tapers and poinsettias, with Christmas trees and the Nativity scene decorated the church for the wedding, and the bride’s colors of white, pink and blue were used in the décor at the bride’s home where guests gathered after the ceremony.

Honor attendants for the bride and groom were her sister and his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Weber of Wausau. Other attendants were the bride’s sister and brother, Miss Helen Apfelbeck of Colby and Leon Apfelbeck of Lombardy, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Weber of Colby, another brother of the groom and a third sister of the bride.

Pink crystalette with a handkerchief apron effect in nylon tulle was worn by the matron of honor, while the bridesmaids were garbed in blue nylon net and taffeta. Silver threads outlined the ruffles which trimmed the bodices and skirts of their gowns.

For her own gown, the bride selected lace and satin. A mandarin collar featured the lace bodice and lace inserts added detail to the skirt of net over satin. A scalloped headpiece, aglitter with rhinestones, sequins and pearls, held the three-tiered veil.

After the church ceremony, the immediate families met at the Apfelbeck home for the wedding breakfast, and other wedding guests were received there after 2 p.m. by the newlyweds in whose honor a wedding dance was held the following night at the Whispering Pines Ballroom.

Among those attending the wedding were residents of Athens, Milwaukee, Chicago and its suburban areas, Stratford, Spencer, Edgar and Wausau.

The couple is now at home at 1141 S. Austin Blvd., Chicago, Ill. Their wedding trip was postponed until later in the year.
