Ormond, Ethel Vi. (14 JUN 1947)

The Globe Immanuel Lutheran Church was the scene of the marriage of Miss Ethel Virginia Ormond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Ormond, route 3, Neillsville, and Frank A. Zager, Marshfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zager, Sr., of Willard. The double ring ceremony was read by the Rev. Adolph Schumann on June 14, 1947, at a 2 p.m. service.

The bride’s gown was of white satin with lace inserts in the top of the sleeves. Two panels of lace fell from the shoulder to the hem in front and two more in back from the waist to the end of the chapel train. The full length veil was caught in a tiara of seed pearls and beads, and was made of lace with three rows of lace across the bottom. She carried a bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley decorated with shower ribbons. Her jewelry was a set consisting a gold locket and earrings, both with amethyst sets, a graduation gift from her parents.

Miss Elsie Zager, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Laura Dux and Miss Josephine Gutt.

The bride’s brother, John Ormond, Jr., was the best man. Groomsmen were Robert Debevec and Verland Dux. David Mech, nephew of the groom, bore the rings to the altar. The small sister of the bride, Charlotte Ormond, was the flower girl.

A wedding reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents. The house was decorated with pink and white streamers and a large white wedding bell. The center of the decorations was a three-tier cake, trimmed in blue and white. About 65 guests were in attendance at the home.

Mr. and Mrs. Zager left for a week’s wedding trip to northern Minnesota. They will make their home in Marshfield, where the groom is employed. The bride was graduated from the Neillsville High School with the class of 1945. The groom was a member of the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, about 2 ½ years of which were spent in the Pacific theater of operations.

Guests from out of town who were her to attend the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Emil Mech and family of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Oblack and family, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Zager, Jr. and Bernie, and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Debevec of Willard; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Merlak and family, Mrs. Margaret Noeldner and Mrs. Emma Rottjer and family of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bayuk and family of Colby, Wis.
