Schmidt, Coletta (21 JUN 1947)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church was the scene of the marriage of Miss Coletta Schmidt, daughter of Mrs. Frank Schmidt of Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), R.1, and Glenn Short, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Short, Granton, R. 3, on Saturday, June 21, 1947. The Rev. Father John Pritzl read the double ring ceremony. The altar was banked with baskets of cut flowers.

The bride wore a gown of white ivory satin with a train and a full length veil, caught in a halo of orange blossoms. Her bouquet of pink roses and lilies of the valley was tied with white satin ribbon.

Mrs. John Jones attended her sister as matron of honor. The bridesmaid was Mrs. LaVerne Gaier, sister of the groom. The groom was attended by Valerian Schmidt, brother of the bride, and LaVerne Gaier. Music by the mixed choir was under the direction of Walter Keohane, who also played the organ.

About 43 guests attended a reception at the home of the bride. The couple left that same afternoon for a short wedding trip. They will be at home to their friends at the home of the groom’s parents, Granton, R. 3.

Mr. and Mrs. Short were both graduated from the Neillsville High School with the class of 1943, and have since been working at their respective homes.

Relatives from out of town who attended the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Valerian Schmidt and family, Mrs. John Jones and family, and Basil Schmidt, Waukesha; Miss Mary Schwartz, East Troy; Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Schmidt and family, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Syth and children of Greenwood.
