Roth, William F. (27 Feb. 1882 - 14 Apr. 1956)

William F. Roth died suddenly Saturday afternoon, while in the furniture store, at the age of 74 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Colby Methodist church, Rev. Harvey Schall officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ray Marsh, Alvin Schmidt, Herman Vircks, Art Kumbler, E. A. Brehm, Gust Brehm.

Mr. Roth was born on February 27, 1882, and married Linda Wendel at Spencer on August 31, 1904. They lived on a farm in the town of Hull for several years after their marriage, moving to the city of Colby 26 years ago. He was employed at the Colby post office for 11 years, retiring about four years ago. Mr. Roth has also been engaged at blacksmithing, played in a number of orchestras and bands and was well known here as a comedian, taking part in many home talent plays. He was a charter member of the Abbotsford local of the American Federation of Musicians. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen.

Being of a congenial disposition, honest in all his dealings, Mr. Roth had many friends who will miss his kindly smile and friendly greeting.

Surviving are his wife and four children, Floyd of Chicago, Roland and Mrs. W. G. (Irene) Danielson of Abbotsford and Mrs. E. J. (Norma) Schmidt of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Also two sisters, Mrs. Fred Bracken and Mrs. George Jorgensen, both of Chicago, and five grand children.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Lt. Col. and Mrs. E. J. Schmidt, and Karen of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Roth, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bracken, Russell Holmes and Mrs. Carl Bracken of Chciago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Catlin of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Knickle of Iola, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huffcutt and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sill of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gates of Schofield, Mrs. Herman Borchardt of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. George Blank of Wausau, Otto Weyhmiller, George Weyhmiller, Albert Davel, Mrs. Wm. Reinheimer and Milton Reinheimer of Loyal, Mrs. Dora Tesmer of Spencer, Mrs. Fred Riplinger and Hazel Riplinger of Riplinger, Mrs. Cora Reinheimer of Marshfield besides others from nearby towns.
