Brehm, Alvin (2 May 1880 - 30 Apr. 1956)

Alvin Brehm of Colby, Wisconsin died Monday night at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, after an illness of two weeks, at the age of 76 years. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Rev. Harvey Schall officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mr. Brehm was born in the town of Hull on May 2, 1880, and resided in that town his entire lifetime. He married Anna Kunze on June 10, 1905. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1953. He retired from farming several years ago.

Surviving are five children, Elroy of Colby, Lester of Luverne, Minn., Mrs. Leona Smulan of Milwaukee, Mrs. Ray Gries of Colby and Mrs. Gordon Ewald of Unity; a brother, Victor, and a sister, Mrs. Olga DeWitt, both of Sheboygan, and 13 grand children. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Brehm was one of the most prominent farmers of the town of Hull who was associated with co-operative enterprises for many years. At the time of his death, he was serving as a director of the Hull Town Mutual Insurance Co. of which organization he was secretary for 43 years. He resigned from that office about two years ago.

He was an organizer and first manager of the Harmony Co-operative Produce Co., of Colby, served for 18 years with the Marathon county unit of the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, and was active in other community and school affairs.

With a rather outspoken demeanor, his convictions on co-operatives, business, civic and social affairs, however, were honest and sincere, which won him the friendship and respect of all who knew him. His many friends will miss him.
