Laken, Helen E. #2 (27 SEP 1947)

Helen E. Laken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Laken of Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Matt Dergance Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Dergance Sr., at a double ring ceremony performed Saturday morning, Sept. 27, 1947, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, by the Rev. Fr. Bernard Ambrozic.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a lace and net gown with a low round neckline, wide ruffle, a long train and fingertip veil. She carried white carnations.

Her matron of honor was her sister, Catherine Laken of Ottawa, Ill., and her bridesmaids were Miss Alvera Voight and Mrs. Harold Ziegler.

Best man was George Laken, brother of the bride, and Joe Zilk, Jr., and Harold Ziegler were ushers.

The church was decorated for the occasion with white asters. Mrs. Ivan Ruzic played "Ava Maria."

A wedding reception was held at 6 o’clock that evening at the home of the bride’s parents for 150 guests. The house was decorated with white asters and white and yellow pompoms.

The bride, a graduate of Greenwood High School, was employed until her marriage in the office of the register of deeds. The groom attended the Willard state graded school and has been engaged in farming.

The couple is now honeymooning in western states and will be at home at 8013 Ogden Av., Lyons, Ill., after Oct. 10.

Those from out of town included….. (the rest of my copy was cut off)
