Lanam, Tessie E. (1872? - 7 OCT 1947)

Mrs. E. J. Lanam, 75, a former resident of Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), died suddenly Oct. 7, 1947 at her home in viola. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Viola, and burial took place in that city. The Rev. Gordon C. Core officiated.

Mrs. Lanam was born Tessie E. Knable. She was married to Elvin J. Lanam in 1894, in Richland Co. Two children were born to them, Leah, now Mrs. Cecil Bennett of Augusta, and Edgar, who died in infancy. They lived on farms in Vernon and Eau Claire Counties, and in 1908, moved back to Viola, where Mr. Lanam was engaged for several years in the hardware and furniture business. In 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Lanam came to Neillsville and purchased a farm just east of the city limits, where they live until 1942. At that time they returned to Viola, and Mr. Lanam died two weeks after they moved into their former home there.

Mr. and Mrs. Lanam were members and active workers of the Neillsville Congregational Church while they resided here. Both were well and favorably known in this community.

Surviving beside their daughter is a grandson, Jack Bennett of Madison. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Irwin Bender and Mrs. Claude Walter of Viola, and Mrs. Roy Miller of Richland Center, and two brothers, Delburn Knable of Richland Center, and Brainer Knable of Viola.
