Zerbel, Alice Lorraine (Marriage - 13 March 1948)

Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church of Neillsville was the scene Saturday evening, March 13 (1948) of the marriage of Miss Alice Lorraine Zerbel of Neillsville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Zerbel of Humbird, and DeWayne John Schweinler, son of Mrs. F. W. Schweinler and the late Dr. F. W. Schweinler of Neillsville. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. N. J. Dechant, pastor, at an 8 o’clock service before the altar banked with candles and mixed flowers of pink and white. The church was candle lighted and was decorated with candelabra and potted plants of pink and white blooms. A large number of relatives and friends witnessed the ceremony.

Mrs. Doris Zerbel Kleckner, sister of the bride, who served as matron of honor, wore a gown of white and a pink hat and carried a pink basket of mixed flowers. John Kleckner attended the groom as best man.

The bride was attired in a gown of white net over sharkskin, fashioned with a satin tunic. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a white, pearl studded coronet. She carried a white basket of white roses.

A prelude of organ music was played by Mrs. Marion Arndt who also played the "Wedding March" from Richard Wagner’s "Lohengrin" and for the recessional, the "Bridal March" from Mendelssohn. Mrs. Arndt played the accompaniment for Harold Milbreit who sang, "I Love Your Truly" just before the ceremony.

Following the ceremony dinner was served at the Fireplace to the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Zerbel, Mr. and Mrs. Max Schenk, Arthur Zerbel, Herman Zerbel, Donald Zerbel, and Martin Zerbel, Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kaufmann, Fairchild; Mrs. Lewis Zerbel, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Houghton and Mrs. Donald Saxton, Beloit; Mrs. Francis Schweinler, Mosinee; Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Schweinler, Manitowoc; Mrs. F. W. Schweinler and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bruhn, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schweinler, Milwaukee; and Mr. and Mrs. John Creviere, DePere, Wis.

The bride is a graduate of the Beloit High School and a business school in Beloit and for some time has been employed as a stenographer by the Urban Sales and Service in Neillsville. The groom was graduated from the Neillsville High School with the class of 1942 and attended the Eau Claire Vocational school before entering the army, where he served three years with Gen. George S. Patton’s Third Army. Since his discharge, he has been employed as a salesman with the J. C. Penney Company in Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Schweinler will reside at 106 East Sixth Street on their return from a wedding trip to Minneapolis.
