----Marshfield Herald June 6, 1914 P. 8 C. 3

We are sorry to announce the death of Harvey Dow which occurred last Friday at about 4 p.m. at his home. He had been ailing for quite awhile and this winter his malady became worse, his death being due to consumption. Deceased was born October 14, 1869 at Strong’s Prairie, Adams County, and came to Clark County when 5 years old, having lived in this vicinity from that time until his death. On Dec. 25, he was married to Miss Cora Webster, who with six children still survive him. The children are Irving, Allie, Luciel, Beulah, Adelaide and Merlin. Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Hetty Dow, and five brothers and sisters, Howard Dow of California, Pratt Dow of Montana, Mrs. Ira Fike of Michigan, Mrs. Una Miller of Marshfield and Miss Mable Dow and Mrs. Ethel Oens at home. Harvey was a noble young man and it is doubly sad that a man so much needed was called to go at his time of life. He was a kind and loving father and kind husband and a good neighbor. The community joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral was held Sunday from Chili, Rev. Bristol officiating, the remains being laid to rest in the Yolo cemetery.

Among those from away who attended the funeral of Harvey Dow were Mr. Dawes and Spence Abbot of Strong’s Prairie and Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Millar of Marshfield.

CHILI

The funeral of Harvey Dow took place a week ago Sunday at the M. E. church here. Rev. Bristol of Nasonville delivered a very appropriate sermon to a large circle of relatives and friends. Mr. Dow had been ailing for about a year, but not until about the last month was he confined to his bed entirely, and on Friday afternoon, May 29th death ended his sufferings, which he bore with manly courage and patience. Consumption was the cause of his death He was born Oct. 14, 1869, at Strong Prairie, Adams Co., and came to Clark county when he was only 5 years old, where he has resided ever since. He leaves a wife, three sons and three daughters. The oldest a son eighteen years old and the youngest a son four years old besides his mother, two brothers and four sisters who mourn his departure keenly. He was laid to rest in the Yolo cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.

A little girl of Harvey Dow that has been sick for several months died last Sunday afternoon.  Several physicians had been called in attendance, but all their skill could not help to save the child.  The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon.  Mrs. Jenks, a sister of Mrs. Dow and her husband came Monday afternoon.  Mr. Dow himself is not well for sometime, making it so much harder to bear.  The sympathy of the whole community is with the saddened family.

Mrs. Frank Davis went to Chili Wednesday to attend the funeral of little Lois Dow, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dow and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Webster.
