Jansen, Mathew (14 JUN 1874 - 6 DEC 1947)

Funeral services for Mathew Jansen, 73, of Chili (Clark Co., Wis.), were held Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville, the Rev. Fr. Arthur Cramer officiating. Burial was at Bakerville. Mr. Jansen died Saturday morning at his home on route 1, Chili, after a several months illness. A rosary service was held Monday evening at the Rembs Fuenral Home.

Mr. Jansen was born June 14, 1874, at Kimberly. He married Oct. 12, 1897, to Nellie Weyenberg at Little Chute. They have resided on the farm near Chili since 1900.

Surviving are the widow, nine children and 34 grandchildren. The daughters are: Mrs. Sophia Johnson, Wis. Rapids; Mrs. Rose Lauer, Marshfield; Mrs. Gertrude Gardener, West Allis; Mrs. Emma Titus and Mrs. Christine Peterson, Three Rivers, Mich., and Mrs. Anna Hildebrand, Loyal. The sons are: George Jansen, Cambridge; Daniel Jansen, Morse; and John Jansen, Chili. Also surviving are five brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Jansen has served as clerk of his school district for 18 years. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church.
