Noel, Matt #2 (1827 - 17 JUL 1904)

Matt Noel died at his farm home southeast of the city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) early Sunday morning. He had suffered a year or more from paralysis. He leaves a wife and children, and a good farm. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. Joseph Hauck.

Deceased was born in Germany, where he grew to manhood, serving some years in the German Army, being station at Moscow, Russia, at one time, when Germany and Russia were allies, and it was interesting to listen to his narrative of exciting events in his early life. He came here in the early days, and by hard labor carved for himself a farm out of the wilderness. When logging was the occupation of everybody here Matt used to drive ox team for Hewett & Wood.
