Blumenthaler, Ari Force Lt. George V. (5 January 1920 - 8 November 1943)

The casketed remains of Air Force Lt. George V. Blumenthaler, a non-battle casualty of World War II, will arrive in Neillsville Friday morning, under army escort. The casket will be taken to the Cole Funeral Home, where it will lie in state until Monday, August 9, (1948). On that day funeral services will be held, from the funeral home at 9 a.m., to St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. John Pritzl officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Service Company.

On Sunday at 3 p.m., a Rosary service will be held at the Cole Funeral Home.

Lt. Blumenthaler was born January 5, 1920, in Gladwin, Mich., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blumenthaler, who are now residents of Neillsville. He and his parents lived in Cadott at the time of his entry into the armed services. He became a member of the National Guard at Chippewa Falls in 1937.

He was sent overseas in October, 1943, and was killed in an accident near London, England, November 8, 1943.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother and four sisters: Frank Blumenthaler, Jr., of Barberton, Ohio, Mrs. R. H. (Mary) Ziehr of Augusta, Mrs. Frank (Kathryn) Svetlik of Neillsville, Mrs. Tony (Ann) Svetlik of Neillsville, and Mrs. Robert (Irene) Goodman of Boyd.
