Slowiak, Kathryn (Marriage - 4 September 1948)

On September 4, (1948) at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church in Stanley, Miss Kathryn Slowiak daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Slowiak, became the bride of Clifford F. Ebben, son of Mrs. Harvey Ebben of Thorp. The Rev. Father James Kamla read the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated for the occasion with gladioli and asters.

The bride, who entered the church on her father’s arm, wore a gown fashioned of lace, with a fingertip veil falling from a seed pearl crown. She carried a bouquet of white roses. Her bridesmaids were Helen Slowiak, Lois Roth and Beatrice Volk.

Bestman was Clayborne Ebben, and the groomsmen were Ray Slowiak and Ronnie Ebben. Ushers were Bruno Belc of Riverside, Calif., and Robert Rubisch of Wilmington, O. Flower girls were Barbara Ann Liszewski and Carol Ebben.

Sixty-five families attended a reception after the ceremony in the parish hall. Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ebben of Kohler; George Herman, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Herman of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Prieman of Colby; and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker of Owen.

The couple took a wedding trip into northern Wisconsin, after which they will be at home in Augusta, where the groom is the operator of a dry cleaning establishment. The bride is a graduate of Stanley High School, and has been employed at office work in the Thorp Finance Company. The groom graduated from Thorp High School.
