Johnson, Lenore (20 FEB 1939)

Miss Lenore Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson of the Town of Johnson (Marathon Co., Wis.), and Anthony Switlick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Switlick of Athens, were united in marriage at nine o’clock on Monday morning, Feb. 20, 1939, at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Milan. The Rev. Frank Brickl officiated.

The bride looked lovely in a beautiful floor length white satin gown with Queen Ann collar, long sleeves and white satin slippers. Her Queen Ann veil with long train was held in place by queen Ann lace cap with sprays of buds on each side. Her bouquet consisted of pink roses ans white sweet peas.

The maid of honor, Elaine Johnson, sister of the bride, wore a floor length peach taffeta gown with wreath of blue cluster of flowers. The bridesmaid, Mrs. Wm. Springer of Athens, sister of the groom, wore a floor length Sheba blue gown with wreath of peach cluster of flowers. Both had shoulder length veils, short sleeves, low collars, silver slippers and wrist corsages of pink roses and sweet peas.

John Switlick, brother of the groom, acted as best man, and Wm. Springer, brother-in-law of the groom, was groomsman. All three wore dark blue suits.

As the wedding march was played by Mrs. Werner Schaefer, Mrs. Wm. Springer was the first to march up the aisle. She was met at the altar by her husband, Wm. Springer. Next came Elaine Johnson, who was met at the altar by John Switlick. Last came the bride, and the groom came from an ante room to meet her at the altar.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents after the ceremony. Covers were laid for 25. The house was decorated in white, peach, and blue. A dance was held at the Trianon Gardens in the evening.

Both are well and favorably known in this community and their many friends extend congratulations. They will lived near Cherokee.

Out of town guests were Max Switlick and family and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mrozelski.
