Blaskowski, Frederick Edward (16 August 1944 - 12 September, 2008)

Frederick Blaskowski, 64, of Neillsville died Friday, September 12, 2008, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

Frederick Edward Blaskowski was born August 16, 1944, in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Catherine (Kapinos) Blaskowski. In 1949, the family moved to Plainfield and in 1954 to Greenwood, where Fred attended high school and helped on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Peggy Schlinsog in Granton; they later divorced. Fred worked as a stainless steel welder first in Milwaukee and then in Marshfield for Proska’s Machine and later for Felker Bros.

He enjoyed hunting and taking care of his cattle. He was a member of the Boilermaker’s Union.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracey (Duane Northup) O’Connell of Neillsville; a grandson, DeRick O’Connell of St. Paul, MN; siblings, Genevieve Ratuloski of Chicago, IL, Theresa Long of Poconos, IL, Joan Counsell of Neillsville, Stanley (Diane) Blaskowski of Stratford and Ted Blaskowski of West Bend. Fred is also survived by several nieces, nephews, friends and a godchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his soul mate, Peggy Blaskowski; brothers, Edward, Raymond and John; and brothers-in-law, Andy Ratuloski, Jack Counsell and James O. Long.

Funeral services for Fred will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Keith Lueneburg will officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist. Interment will be in the Zion American Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

Casketbearers are: Butch Bryan, Dean Bryan, Byrl Buddenhagen, Jeff Strack and Darrell Struensee.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Fred’s family with funeral arrangements.
