Schafer, Annie (26 May 1861 - 7 January 1949)

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Schafer, 87, of Neillsville, were held Tuesday at the Cole Funeral Home and from St. Mary’s Church. Burial was made in St. Joseph Cemetery, Marshfield. The Rev. Fr. John Pritzl officiated.

Mrs. Schafer died January 7, (1949) at the nursing home in Greenwood, where she lived the past 18 months.

Mrs. Schafer, the former Annie Pitts, was born May 26, 1861, at Chilton. She received her education in the public schools there.

Mrs. Schafer married Casper Schafer on February 22, 1881, at Chilton. He preceded her in death in 1945. She later lived in Marshfield and Neillsville.

Surviving are eight children, 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. The children are: Vernon Schafer, Milan; Mrs. Mary Michaels, Tigerton; Mrs. Lena Collins, Mrs. Catherine Wiskow, Joseph and Henry Schafer, all of Wausau; Mrs. Clara Lynch and John Schafer of Neillsville.
