Foemmel, William A. (19 July 1876 - 29 March 1949)

William A. Foemmel, 72, of Pine Valley, died at his home Tuesday, March 29, 1949, at 6:55 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1:30 from the Georgas Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Church, Rev. Alfred Schewe officiating. Burial will be made in Windfall Cemetery, Granton.

Mr. Foemmel was born July 19, 1876, to Fred and Johanna Scheele Foemmel. He lived in Clark County the past 70 years, receiving his education in the schools here. He was married to Martha Ratsch of Pine Valley April 3, 1907. They farmed two miles west of Granton until 1918, when they purchased a farm north of the city. He has farmed there the past 30 years. He was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was clerk for Pine Valley Mound School for many years.

Mr. Foemmel had been seriously ill since December.

Surviving besides his widow are seven children: Mrs. Herman (Clara) Scheel, Granton; Mrs. L. J. (Selma) Kluchesky, Neillsville; Mrs. Frank (Ella) Hoffman, Globe; Mrs. William (Elda) Morley, Granton; Gerhardt Foemmel, Neillsville; Mrs. Gust (Martha) Ratsch, Chicago; and a stepson, Edward Scharf, Westfield, N.Y.

Three brothers, Adolph, August and Walter, all of Chili, and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Emma) Garbisch of Granton, also survive.

Preceding him in death were three brothers and a sister, Henry, Carl and Fred, and Mrs. Joe (Julia) Krause.
