Graffunder, Clara (30 OCT 1897 - 9 NOV 1939)

Mrs. Henry Graffunder was interred at the Milan Cemetery, Monday afternoon, after services held at the home of Ben Graffunder at one o’clock, followed by services at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan at two o’clock. The Rev. E. Malueg officiated at the rites at which a large gathering of relatives and friends paid a final tribute to the deceased.

The pallbearers were Anton Kramer, Richard Kramer, George Brown, Edwin Hoeft, Fred Marquardt and Abe Strebe, of Fairchild, all neighbors except the latter who was a former neighbor. Thos who carried the floral offerings were the Misses Marion Marquardt, Delores Wellman, Esther Westphal, Marion Hoeft and Joyce Cole.

Mrs. Henry Graffunder was born Clara Soeffker in Arlington, Minn., Oct. 30, 1897. She was married June27, 1923 to Henry Graffunder and they made their home on their farm in the town of Holton. One son, Donald, now 19 months, was born to them.

Mrs. Graffunder suffered an attack of gallstones about a week ago and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she under went an operation. She died on Thursday evening, Nov. 9th, 1939.

Surviving her are her husband, Henry, a son, Donald; two brothers, Ernest and Walter Soeffker, and one sister, Mrs. Augusta Unglaub, all of Arlington, Minn.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Soeffker and children, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Soeffker and children, Mrs. Henry Nagel, George Nagel, Mrs. Henry Scheer and son, Bernard, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schneider and children, and Ollie Bulord, all of Arlington, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. John Krane and son, Harry and John Jr., and daughter, Esther, and Mrs. Albert Schauer of Plato, Minn.
