Company A in the Running (Rifle Competition – 13 Apr 1916)

Word received from Capt. Clemens, Regimental Inspector of Small Arms Practice, is to the effect that the local company leads all companies in the 3rd Inf., in the past winter’s indoor rifle practice, and will send a team of 17 picked men to Hudson next Sunday morning to compete with three other teams from the 3rd Inf. for the honor of going to the state competition held probably at Milwaukee later on. No word has been received as yet in regard to the company’s standing in the state, but as it leads the regiment with a large margin, it is a safe bet that it is near the top of the list, and still it has to go outside of its own town to get sufficient men to get up its enlistment quota. Splendid local interest “nit”.
