Liebe, John (20 October 1906 - 26 April 1949)

John Liebe, 42, died April 26, 1949 after an illness of seven months. Rosary services were held Friday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home, and funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Saturday morning. Fr. John J. Pritzl officiated. Burial took place in St. Michael’s Cemetery, at Wausau, with Rev. Bernard Hoppa officiating.

Mr. Liebe was born in Portage County on October 20, 1906, to Martin and Helen Liebe. He received his education in the Portage County schools. During his young manhood he worked as a farm hand; he also worked in Chicago and Eagle River.

On October 20, 1931, he was united in marriage to Tillie Zyduck at Wausau. He farmed two years near Wausau, coming to Clark County two years go in January and purchasing the Alvin Eisentraut farm. On Thanksgiving Day last year he became ill and had been a patient at the Neillsville Hospital and Wisconsin General Hospital at Madison from that time.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife and eight children, all at home: Larry, Doloris, Lawrence, Eleanor, Maxine, Marlene, Audrey and Rose Mary; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Liebe of Wittenberg; and the following brothers and sisters: Jerome and Joe Liebe of Iola; Henry and Leo Liebe of Wittenberg; Mrs. John (Clara) Cisler, Manitowoc; Mrs. Alfred (Regina) Marten, Shakopee, Minn.; Mrs. Emil (Frances) Kuick, Two Rivers; Mrs. Ted (Loretta) Mocniak, Toledo, O.; and Mrs. Al (Anna) Damish, Fremont.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were: Alvin, Harry and Richard Zyduck, Emil Kuick, John Cisler and Al Damish.

Those from out-of-town attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Marten Liebe, Leo Liebe and Henry Liebe of Wittenberg; Mr. and Mrs. John Cisler, Manitowoc; Mrs. Ted Mocniak and two children, Toledo, O; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Liebe, and Joe Liebe, Iola; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Marten and family, Shakopee, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Kuick and family, Two Rivers; Mr. and Mrs. Al Damish, Fremont; Miss Damesk, Amherst Junction; John Zyduck, Jane Zyduck, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Zyduck, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Zyduck, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Zyduck, all of Wausau.
