Ronald O. Carter, 68, De Pere, passed away peacefully Friday, May 23, 2008, at a local hospital with his family by his side.
He was born Oct. 19, 1939, in Colby son of the late Alfred and Leona (Van Dreel) Carter. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1958. He married Marcia Wojciechowski on Sept. 8, 1962, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens.
Following their marriage, they moved to De Pere where Ron worked for U.S. Paper Mill until his retirement in 2000. He loved charter fishing on Lake Michigan and gardening. He truly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 46 years, Marcia; four children, Randal (Brenda) Carter, and their children, Erika and Ethan; Jodi Carter, and her son, Jordan; Tami (John) Westcott; and Ronald "Kip" (Pamela) Carter, and their children, Zachary, Ashley, Dominic and Patrick; five brothers and sisters, Arlene Weiland, Marcella (Roman) Schreiber, Geri (Bernard) Rottier, Melvin (Marlene) Carter and Shirley (Tony) Zettler; mother-in-law, Phyllis Wojciechowski; sister-in-law, Sharon Wallschlaeger; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Herb Weiland; and his father-in-law, Raymond Wojciechowski.
Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John XXIII Circle, off Sportsman Drive, town of Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital 6th floor ICU and 9th floor, and DaVita Dialysis Center.
