Fox, Emma (27 APR 1875 - 1 JUN 1946)

Funeral services were conducted from St. Katherine’s Church, Owen, Monday at two o’clock, by Dr. K. O Crosby, for Emma Fox, 71. She was laid to rest in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers at the service were: Roland Haire, Jack Olds, Ben Bruchert, Walt Cattanach, Harvey Wedding and Harry Randall.

Emma Fox, nee Emma Williams, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Larsen at Wittenburg, Saturday morning, June 1, 1946. The cause of her death was contributed to a heart condition.

She was born on April 27, 1875 at Chetek, Wis. On Oct. 22, 1895, she and William Fox, who preceded her in death, passing away in 1941, were married at Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.). The couple then moved to Owen, being one of the city’s early pioneers, living here for forty years. Since Mr. Fox passed away five years ago, she had made her home alternately at the homes of her daughters, Mr. and Mrs. John Larsen at Wittenburg, and Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Christensen at Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Despite her absence from this community, except for occasional visits these last few years, her presence was missed by the wide circle of friends she had made herself so dear to. Mrs. Fox had been a devoted mother, and an active member of the Royal Neighbors for 24 years.

Those surviving her passing away are two sons, Walter, Milwaukee, and Neal of Red Wing, Minn.; four daughters, Mrs. C. F. (Edith) Parsons, Eureka, Calif.; Mrs. R. J. (Mary) Christensen, Milwaukee; Mrs. Marshall (Alice) Skinner, Cumberland, Wis., and Mrs. John (Ida) Larsen, Wittenburg; two brothers, Edgar and Elwin, and a sister, Mrs. Spencer Lodke, Portland, Ore., besides many friends.
