Scharf, Alvin Herman (14 July 1923 - 25 June 1970)

Funeral services for Alvin Herman Scharf, 47, for Alvin Herman Scharf, 47, of Neillsville, who died last Thursday in Neillsville, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. Evan Dieck officiated. Burial was made in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Scharf was born July 14, 1923, in Neillsville to Herman and Martha (Ratsch) Scharf. He received his education in the “town of Grant and married the former Ilene Schnabel on June 23, 1946, in Neillsville. He farmed and served as a supervisor on the town board. He had been ill for the last three and one-half years.

Survivors include: his wife and three children, Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Elmhorst, and Linda and Ronald, at home, all of Neillsville; four sisters, Mrs. Carl (Clara) Scheeler of Cazenovia, Mrs. Edna Janke, Mrs. Celon (Alma) Winter, and Mrs. Helmuth (Elsie) Winkler, all of Granton; and a brother, Clarence of West Allis.

Pallbearers were: Irving Vine, Theamore Vine, Paul Schlinsog, Ralph Lautenbach, Victor Braatz and Vernon Drescher. Congregational singing was accompanied by Miss Margie Schlinsog.

People attending from out-of-town included: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Scheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Scheeler and family and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Scheeler and family, all of Cazenovia; Mr. and Mrs. James Scheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wallace and family and Mr. and Mrs. John Whalen, all of Hillsboro; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Scharf of West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. William Marg of Schofield; Mr and Mrs. Harold Schnabel and daughter, Warner and ken Raethy, all of south Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schnabel and Dale of Chili; Mrs. Lillian Wagner, Mrs. Violet Edwards and Lori Kay of Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. harry Volz of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Velda King and James of Beaver Dam; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kirn and family and Mrs. Marveline Butterbrodt of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ratsch of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Tykac and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Grottke of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Mead of Reedsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ewing, Kim and Bobby, of Prairie du Chien; Mr. and Mrs. William Meier, Jr., of Tomahawk; and many friends and relatives from Neillsville and Granton area.
