Gehrke, Gloria Mae & Geraldine Elaine (Double Marriage - 6 August 1949)

SISTERS MARRIED BROTHERS - Double Wedding - In a double wedding ceremony performed Saturday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, the Misses Gloria Mae and Geraldine Elaine Gehrke, daughters of Mrs. Esther Gehrke of Marshfield, became the brides of Charles and George Florence, sons of Mr. and Mrs. George Florence, Sr., of Pittsville.

The brides wore identical gowns of marquisette with long sleeves, high necklines, sheer yokes, and ruffled bertha collars. Embroidered ruffling formed an apron effect on the full skirts. Their full length veils of imported illusion were trimmed with Chantilly lace and were held in place with sweetheart bonnets of shirred illusion. They carried shower bouquets of roses, gladioli, and stephanotis.

Attending the brides as matron of honor was their sister, Mrs. Harry Buttke, and serving as bridesmaids were the grooms’ sisters, Mrs. Gerald Dimler and Mrs. Everest Schaefer of Neillsville. They were attired in gowns similar to the brides’ fashioned from taffeta in orchid and aqua. The junior bridesmaid, Bernadine Schaefer, wore yellow. Flower girls were Dottie Buttke and Rozann Schaefer.

Attending the reception held at the armory in Marshfield were friends and relatives from Arlington Heights, Ill., Milwaukee, Neshkoro, Clintonville, Wausau, Pittsville, Arpin, Granton, Spencer and Unity.

Mr. and Mrs. George Florence will make their home on a farm near Pittsville, while Mr. and Mrs. Charles Florence will reside near Granton.
