Steffen, Mary J. (18 SEP 1942 - 9 APR 1943)
Mary Jane Steffen, daughter of Helen Steffen, was born on Sept. 18, 1942. She became ill with brain fever on Thursday, Apr. 8, and was taken to St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield, where she died the next day, Friday, Apr. 9, at the age of seven months.
Her body was taken at once to the Ohlrogge funeral home, and Sunday afternoon it was taken to the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Steffen, there to lie in state until the funeral.
Private funeral services were held at the Steffen home near Riplinger, Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Gerhardt Reiff, Marshfield, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran church at Riplinger officiated. Burial was in the Beaver cemetery.
Emil Steffen Jr. and Walter Boettcher served as pallbearers and the flower girls were Rose Steffen, Iris Steffen, Alaire Steffen, Ruth sell and Mrs. Walter Boetcher.
