Laessig, Norma J. (5 Aug. 1908 - 23 Oct. 2008)

Norma J. Laessig, 100, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at the Marshfield Care Center under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Services.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Manickam officiating. Suzanne Golden will be the organist along with Sacred Heart Funeral Choir. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield.

Family will receive relatives and friends at the church Thursday, Oct. 30, from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services.

Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Norma was born Aug. 5, 1908, in the town of Sherman, Clark County, to George F. Fisher Jr. and Stella Thomas. She graduated from Loyal High School and attended the Minneapolis Beauty School.

She was united in marriage to Dr. H.L. "Doc" Laessig on Sept. 19, 1935, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He died Sept. 4, 1954.

Norma was a beautician at Beseler Beauty Parlor and also worked as a clerk for Scafe's Jewelry and Gift Store in Marshfield. She volunteered at the Senior Citizens Craft Shoppe for many years. Norma lived at the Parkview Apartments for 30 years. She enjoyed her family and friends, her apartment and decorating for holidays. She had wonderful help toward the end of her 100-year life.

Norma is survived by her sister, Hazel Saveland of Stillwater, Minn.; two nieces, Linda Saveland of Stillwater, Minn., and Dierdra Thomas of Yalaha, Fla.; and a nephew, John (Ellen) Saveland of Stillwater, Minn. She is further survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Fisher. A huge thank you to her caring and loving friends, Veronica, Dolly, Selma, Mary, Susan, Colleen, Kathy and many more.
