Robert A. Waldhauser, 78, of Loyal died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services are pending with Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal.

LOYAL -- Robert Andrew Waldhauser, 78, of Loyal, died Oct. 25, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Loyal. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of service.

Robert was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Elgin, Ill., the son of Andrew and Catherine (Wolkerstorfer) Waldhauser. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1953, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He returned to Loyal and was united in marriage to Ruby Redig on April 22, 1957, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He farmed his entire life in the town of Loyal and also worked at Kobiske Welding and Roth Manufacturing. He retired in the mid-1990s.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Loyal; 14 children, Mike (Pat) of Loyal, Jim of Wausau, Dale of Loyal, Laurie (Doug) Winger of Milton, Margie (Ken) Gawenda of Osseo, Cathy Waldhauser of Waukegan, Ill., Mary (Dave) Wilson of Colby, Andy of Loyal, Chuck (Debbie) of Indianapolis, Ind., Ken (Diane) of Loyal, Paul of Loyal, Carrie (Steve) Troutt of Spencer, Kim Waldhauser of Wausau, Aaron (friend Lynn Lulloff) of Loyal; 17 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three brothers, Larry (Marie) of Fridley, Minn., Norman (Mardene) of Sussex, and Raymond of Pahrump, Nev. Cuddie Funeral Home of Loyal is assisting the family with arrangements.
