Mrs. Marth Gilbertson Becken passed away at her farm home in the Town of Hoard (Clark Co.) on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 on May 11, 1947, after a week’s illness.

She was born in O’stre Gausdal Gulbransdalen, Norway, on March 16, 1860, and came to this country in the spring of 1885, settling at Curtiss, where she was married the same year to Peter Becken. Her husband and a son George, preceded her in death in 1937, and a son in infancy, Four brothers, Hans in Norway, Christian Matthias and Ole Gilbertson of Curtiss, and also two grandchildren, preceded her in death. Surviving are four children, Gustav, Anna (Mrs. Ernest Mowery) of Hoard, Halvor of Green Grove, and Thorval of Spring Valley, and a brother, Anton, in Nowary, and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
