Lois Habhegger was born on July 14, 1929, in Loyal, the daughter of John and Anna (nee Zuege) Habhegger. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1947 as class valedictorian. They farmed in the town of Sherman until 1968 when they moved to Spencer. Lois then worked at the Spencer State Bank for 30 years, retiring as head teller in 1998. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School
for many years, served in the Ladies’ Aid, and worked at the Bethesda Thrift Store in Wausau. She volunteered as a reading tutor for second-graders at school and helped at the Spencer Food Pantry. Lois loved gardening and sharing the harvest with neighbors and family.
