Schalk, Charles August (25 February 1866 - 9 January 1950)

Charles Schalk, 83, died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chatman, in the Town of Grant, Monday, January 9, 1940, at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services were to be held in Berlin with the body being removed there Wednesday from the Georgas Funeral Home.

Mr. Schalk was born in Germany February 25, 1866. When he was 18 years of age he came to this country alone, and located in Berlin. He worked as a stone cutter until he was 65 years when he retired. He lived in Berlin until a year ago, when he and his wife came to Neillsville to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Chatman.

Mr. Schalk was married on November 8, 1892, to Vera Montie at Berlin. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
