Reinhold Plath was born in Nahausen, Brandenburg Germany, February 23, 1863, coming directly to Spencer Wisconsin arriving here July 11th.

He was united in marriage to Miss Ernestine Varney March 28, 1886 and four children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They made their home in this village for 15 years and then moved onto a farm, two miles south of Spencer, where they resided for 23 years. Last month he sold his farm to his son Herman Plath, and moved to this village. Ill health causing the change, July 25, he was taken to the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where he underwent an operation which was successful and he returned to his home, where he continued to improve for a week. He had a relapse and on September 9, he was taken to the hospital and found to be suffering from cancer. He failed gradually, until Oct. 3, 8:10 A.M. Wednesday death came as a release from his suffering.
