Koontz, Gerald G. (June 27, 1930 - November 9, 2008)

Gerald G. Koontz, 78, Dorchester, died Sunday, November 9, 2008. He was living at home until the time of his death.

Gerald Koontz was born on June 27, 1930, in Milwaukee to Ed and Ethel (Grube) Koontz.

He graduated from Westboro High School. Gerald was united in marriage to Mary Mayer whom preceded him in death.

Gerald and Marilyn Marohl were united in marriage on November 12, 1965, in Burnett.

Gerald served in the Air Force, including Korea and Viet Nam. He worked at Liberty Homes in Dorchester as a Night Watchman and was a school bus driver in Colby School District. Gerald was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed bird watching. Gerald’s passion was his family.

Gerald is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn, Dorchester; children, Bob (Tammy) Koontz, Medford, Jim Koontz, Rothschild, Kevin (Lorie) Koontz, Crestview, Fla., Sharon (Gary) Schmidt, Burnett, Richard (Kelly) Nelson, Denver, Co.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Mary) Koontz, Eau Claire and Allen (Anneliese) Koontz, Kokomo, Ind., and his cat Sox.

Mr. Koontz was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary in 1963; and a niece.

Services for Mr. Koontz will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Wednesday, November 12, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Wis. Pastor Peter Warmanen will preside. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 11, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Abbotsford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
