Schroeder, Johanna (20 DEC 1864 - 31 OCT 1943)

Funeral services for Mrs. Johanna Schroeder, who passed away on Oct. 31 after a four -month illness, were held in the Trinity Lutheran church here at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, with a short service at the Walter Krahn home preceding. The Rev. J. C. Langholz officiated, and burial was made in the Loyal Lutheran cemetery.

Johanna Priebe was born on Dec. 20, 1864, in Pomerania, Germany, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Coming to America, she lived at Beaver Dam for 20 years. She came to Clark county in 1900, moving to Loyal eight years ago. She was an active church worker at the Veefkind Lutheran church when she moved to Loyal.

On March 11, 1891, she was married to Albert Schroeder at Beaver Dam. To this union were born nine children, four sons and five daughters. A daughter, Mrs. Hattie Rahm, and an infant son preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and the following children; Julius Schroeder and Mrs. Munson (Florence) Vanderhoof of Spencer, Mrs. Albert (Elsie) Mellenthin of Unity, Frieda Schroeder of Owen, Roy Schroeder and Mrs. Walter (Linda) Krahn of Loyal and Bert Schroeder of Sawyer.

Six grandsons were pallbearers at the funeral. They were: Walter, Bill and Bernard Rahm, Oscar and Gordon Mellenthin and Herman Luepke. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Eleanor Luepke, Miss Marion Frome, Miss Shirley Mellenthin, Miss Lorena Vanderhoof, Mrs. Delores Mellenthin, Mrs. Alice Rahm, Mrs. Alma Hafsenberger, , Mrs. Ada Thiede, Mrs., Perry Volk, Mrs. Henry Meier, Mrs. Albert Tews, Mrs. Adolph Kurz, Mrs. Joe Motchenbacher and Mrs. Ernest Krasselt.

"Let Me Go" was sung by Miss Laura Noeldner and Mrs. Ervin Dux, accompanied on the church organ by Mrs. Marvin Seeman. Also sung during the services were "Sometime Somewhere" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

Relatives and friends away who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Bertha Kiske, Mrs. Edna Kienow, Mrs. Hattie Roedel and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Mellenthin, all of Beaver Dam, Walter Rahm of Salem, Ind., Mrs. Walter Thiede of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Frome of Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Hopfenberger of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Brose of Mosinee, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Monthe of Unity, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rahm of Riplinger and Mrs. Herman Krause of Spencer.

The Tribune extends to the surviving relatives its sympathy in the loss of a loved one.
