Douglas, Sophia (16 JUL 1856 - 29 OCT 1943)

Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Douglas, 87, who passed away at 5 o’clock Friday morning, Oct. 29, at the Butz home in the town of Herman, Sheboygan county, where she had been residing were held Monday, Nov. 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wittkopp funeral home in Plymouth. The Rev. Samuel Bullough of the First Congregational church of Plymouth officiated and burial was made in the Wood lawn cemetery.

Pallbearers were Alfred Wittkopp, Gus Kassebaum, Willie Chandler, Eli Carpenter, Harvey Chaplin and John Serfling.

During the services, Miss Dietsch sang "Sweetly Resting" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanied by Miss Hildegarde Wilson.

The Rebekah lodge of Plymouth, of which Mrs. Douglas was a member, held a service at the funeral home Sunday evening.

Nee Sophia Minch, she was born on July 16, 1856, in the town of Lyndon, the daughter of Jacob and Magdelena Minch. She was married to James Douglas in 1881. He and a daughter, Mrs. William (Verna) Wichman, preceded her in death. She had been ill for about three weeks.

Three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, a brother and several nieces and nephews survive.
