Sell, Gerhardt (8 JUL 1921 - 16 OCT 1943)

SOUTH BEAVER — Pvt. Gerhardt W. Sell was killed in action in Italy on Oct. 16, 1943, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sell, of Loyal.

Private Sell, who was born in the town of Beaver on July 8, 1921, lived there until he was inducted on June 30, 1942. He spent 13 weeks at Camp Roberts, Cal., was transferred to Fort Meade, Md., and then to New Jersey. He went overseas to North Africa and from there to Sicily, where he was wounded and hospitalized for three weeks. He next saw action in Italy, where his death occurred.

He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Selma, at home, and Mrs. Adele Edmison of Cataract, and two brothers, Hilbert and Frederick (Fritz), at home.

Private Sell spent a six-day furlough at home in November, 1942.

The community extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
