Stanek, Josephine (7 NOV 1947)

Monday forenoon, Nov. 7, 1947, Father Bornbach officiated at a double ring ceremony at the Holy Rosary Rectory, at which Miss Josephine Stanek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stanek, Sr., town of Hixon (Clark Co., Wis.), and John Rauha, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rauha, Sr., town of Hoard (Clark Co.) exchanged vows.

For the wedding the bride wore a lace and ;earl trimmed white satin gown, with long fitted sleeves and a full gathered skirt ending in a long train. Her floor length veil, edged in lace, was caught to a seed pearl crown. She wore a three-strand pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. She carried a lovely prayer book trimmed with roses and carnations tied with a white ribbon.

Wearing a light lbue rayon jersey gown was Mrs. Einar Laakso, the groom’s sister, as matron of honor. Her headdress matched her gown, and she wore a rose corsage. In similar attire, but in pink, was the bride’s sister Edna, as bridesmaid. She also wore a matching headdress and a rose corsage. Both attendants wore pearl necklaces, gifts of the bride.

The groom was attended by his brother-in-law, Einar Laakso, and the bride’s brother, Frank. The men wore dark suits.

Following the ceremony, the wedding party went to the home of the groom’s parents where close to sixty relatives and friends attended a reception given in their honor.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at Merry Ol’ Gardens.

A coin shower honoring the young couple was held at the Elmer Laakso home the Friday evening preceding the wedding.
