Fialkowski, Ignatius (29 OCT 1876 - 4 DEC 1947)
Funeral services were conducted from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), Saturday morning, Dec. 6th, for Ignatius Fialkowski, aged 71 years. The Rev. Fr. Bornbach officiated at the final rites and interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers at the service were Richard Allen, Arnie Larson, Ray Conzemius, Tom Novak, John Ciokiewicz and Walter Pogodzinski.
Ignatius Fialkowski, born in Poland on Oct. 29, 1876, passed away a week ago today, Dec. 4th, 1947, after having been ill for the past three years. As a youth and young man he attended schools in Germany, which included a two year’s business training course. In 1900 at Goral, Poland, he married Johanna Kopachewski. In 1913 he and his family of seven children came to America, settling at Thorp, where they resided for seven years before coming to Owen for two years. In 1922 the family established a residence in Chicago, living there for 10 years until 1933, at which time they returned to Owen. Butchering had been his occupation, but upon returning to this community he settled on a farm near the city and pursued that occupation until 1944, at which time he sold the farm because of failing health. He spent one year residing with a daughter at Winona and then returned to Owen, where he had since made his home at the home of his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ciokiewicz.
Surviving his passing are his wife, three sons, John and Verne of Chicago, and Alfred of Winona, Minn., three daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Gertrude) Ciokiewicz, Owen, Mrs. Walter (Lottie) Kelly, and Helen, Winona, Minn.; a brother, Paul, living in Poland, and a sister, Mrs. Ann Zelinski of Passaic, New Jersey.
All of the children were here for the funeral services, as was Mrs. Victoria Becker of Chicago, Ill.
