Olson, Bennie (5 FEB 1938 - 23 JAN 1948)

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. for Bennie Olson from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) with Dr. K. O. Crosby of Owen officiating. The remains were then taken to Merrillan, Wis., where service were conducted at two o’clock and burial was made in the family lot.

Bennie, the nine year, eleven months and eighteen days olds son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Olson, route 1, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the Victory Hospital at Stanley Friday, Jan. 23, 1948, suffering from a ruptured appendix.

Surviving Bennie’s untimely passing are his parents and two brothers, besides many relatives and classmates by whom he was though a great deal of in his daily contacts with them at school.

Bennie, the little 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Olson of Owen, R. 1, passed away at the Stanley hospital Jan. 23, 1948. A prayer at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) at 10 o’clock, Dr. K. O. Crosby officiating, and at the Methodist Church at Merrillan at 2 o’clock, Rev. Sumners of Black River falls officiating. Interment was made in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were six of his school friends, Eddie Hautamaki, Leonard Himes, Geo. Himes, Ledale Fakes, Johnny Hahto, and Charles Kaucnik.

Bennie Lester Olson, son of Lester and Blanche Olson, was born Feb. 15, 1938, at Black River Falls. He was 9 years, 11 months and 9 days of age at the time of his passing. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Pfc. Richard Allen of Atlanta, Ga., and Leonard Eugene, at home, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schoolcraft, of Black River Falls, and John Olson of Mellen, and many uncles, aunts and cousins, who deeply mourn his loss. He was a sweet and loving child, well liked by all who knew him. Bennie will be greatly missed by his family, who dearly loved him and his passing is a great shock to them.

Those from away who came for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schoolcraft, Mr. and Mrs. James Schoolcraft, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Peterson and son, Duane, Mrs. Albert Stenulson, all of Black River Falls, Wis., Pfc. Richard Olson of Atlanta, Ga. The family has the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
