Bjornstad, Sena (5 APR 1872 - 4 MAR 1948)

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Griebenow Funeral Parlors for Sena Amundson Bjornstad, who passed away at her home in the city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) Thursday night, March 4, 1948. Rev. G. E. Borreson officiated at the final rites. Serving as pallbearers were her four sons, Melvin, Arthur, Selmer and Arnold, and two grandsons, Leland and Marvin. Flower girls were Harriet, Bonnie and Eunice Marking, Dorothy Carlson and Audrey and Evelyn Bjornstad.

Mrs. Bjornstad was one of the oldest residents of the city of Owen, having resided in Owen for the past 54 years. Her kind and considerate qualities bestowed her with the respect and warm friendship of all that knew her. For the past several months she had been very ill and her passing away comes as a comfort in knowing she is relieved of any further suffering.

She was born on April 5, 1872, in Lillehammer, Norway. In 1886 she came to the United States and lived on a farm near Thorp (Clark Co.). She was united in marriage to Sever Bjornstad at Eau Claire, Wis., on Oct. 6, 1894, and in this same years she and her husband moved to Owen. At the time of her death she was 75 years, 10 months and 29 days of age.

Mourning her passing away are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Oscar (Borghild) Grant of Racine, Wis., Mrs. Donald (Alice) Amerling of Flint, Mich., four sons, Arthur of Cadott, Melvin, Selmer and Arnold of Owen, one brother, Chris Berg of Thorp, and 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Ruth, and a brother, Andrew, have preceded her in death.

Among those from away that attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bjornstad and family of Cadott, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Amerling and family of Flint, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Grant of Racine, Melvin and Edwin Nelson, Marvin Bjornstad, Dorothy Carlson of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sippel, and Mrs. Raymond Swaboda of Chippewa Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Brandsness of Stanley.
