Oryszczyn, Walter S. (7 Feb. 1919 - 22 Nov. 2008)

Walter S. Oryszczyn, 89, of Withee died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center. A prayer service will be held at a later date at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, Lublin.

Oryszczyn was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Minneapolis, Minn., to John and Tatiana "Jessie" (Figura) Oryszczyn. He served in the U.S. Army and married Olga Leshuk May 3, 1947. He farmed in the Withee area his entire life.

He is survived by his daughter Carol (Charlie Hagedorn) Oryszczyn of Neillsville, his son Bob (Margie) Oryszczyn of Thorp, two grandsons, three great-grandchildren and his sister Caroline Gwiazdon of Thorp.

His wife, Olga, died June 29, 2003.

WITHEE -- Walter S. Oryszczyn, 89, of Withee, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab.

A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Lublin. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Walter Swaitoslaw Oryszczyn was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Minneapolis, Minn., to John and Tatiana "Jessie" (Figura) Oryszczyn. He grew up on a farm northeast of Thorp. He served in the Army from Aug. 29, 1942 until his honorable discharge on Nov. 2, 1945. After his military service, Walter did logging with Tony Sopetta and worked at Huberty's Gas Station in addition to farming his entire life.

He was united in marriage May 3, 1947, to Olga Leshuk at Holy Assumption Church in Lublin. She died June 29, 2003.

Walter is survived by a daughter, Carol (Charlie Hagedorn) Oryszczyn of Neillsville; a son, Bob (Margie) Oryszczyn of Thorp; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Caroline Gwiazdon of Thorp.
