Lind, Howard W. (16 Nov. 1923 - 23 Nov. 2008)
Colby, Wis. -- Howard W. Lind, 85, of Colby and formerly of Lancaster, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
A celebration of Howard's life will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at the Pine Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Colby, Wis. Family will greet relatives and friends beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of services at the Pine Ridge Assisted Living Facility.
The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is assisting the family with arrangements. Howard was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Stitzer. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in Guadalcanal, as well as the Philippines and the Solomon Islands.
He married "the girl next door," Beverly Ann Becker in 1952. Howard worked road construction for Becker and Tuckwood Contractors, later becoming Croft Construction, until his retirement in 1985.
Howard is survived by his wife, Beverly, of the Pine Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Colby; daughter, Cherie (Reed) Welsh, Abbotsford; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
